Welcome to My Synthesiser D.I.Y Home Page

This Web site contains my own idea's for building my own synthesiser with the help of the kind people on the Synth-DIY mailinglist.

My Analog Synth

Producing music has always been a hobby for me. As far as i can remember i made rythm's and melodies on whatever material was available. When i was 12 i got my first game-console, the N.E.S (short for Nintendo Entertainment System). It was a 8 bit console, and it amused me a lot from the bells and bleeps coming out of it.

Later on, i got a PII-300 and i still have this piece of equipment. I got interest in programming in BASIC and Pascal, and made a number of interesting projects with it, but when i got to the age of 15 i lost interest in programming all together.

I felt the need to once again pick up my musical skills. This is when i started to made extensive use of the PC as a music creation tool. Screamtracker, Protracker, FastTracker all past the venue. Later it became Cool Edit, SoundForge, Rebirth, Buzz, and so on... To this day on i still use these programs to "more-or-less" create music that feels good to me. This music covered mostly Trance, Techno, but later on made it into the Club, Ambient and Lounge-genre.

Then my ears heard the typical 80's sounds of analog screaming synth's and i was inspired deeply by its sonical capabilities. This is the stage where i wanted to have my own piece of screaming electronics. I wanted a modular!

The ASM-1-SB

I came across the ASM-1 through google, like all my searches on the e-way. I signed up for the mailinglist and suddently i was there, between the experts. And I still am.

Each day i learn new things, and each day i get new motivation to complete the modular i started. This Website will in the future be a reference for my progress on the ASM-1, and (at least a small part) a personal thank-you to the guys (and gals) at the list.

Here is the original ASM-1 Site:

If you want to build the ASM-1 yourself, and can't get any further, I suggest you surf to http://dropmix.xs4all.nl/synth-diy/ and follow the instructions to become a member of the Synth-DIY mailinglist. This is the home of the Synth Guru's around the world. Don't be afraid to ask questions, they're actually nice people...

Yours Sincerely, Jaco Sloof
